Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of a disposable infusion pump used for continuous infusion of fluorouracil on infusion speed and duration and dosage control, and to observe the efficacy and toxicity and adverse reactions of chemotherapy. Methods 100 patients with malignant gynecologic tumors were randomly divided into a control group and a study group,50 for each group. The control group received traditional intravenous infusions of fluorouracil in a short time, while the study group received continuous infusions of fluorouracil for 44 to 48 h with a disposable infusion pump. Results The rate of patients who were able to complete a full course of chemotherapy successfully was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group; the rate of toxicity and adverse reactions was significantly lower in the study group than in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusions A disposable infusion pump is safe and effective during chemotherapy for patients with malignant gynecologic tumors. It reduces the incidence rate of toxicity and adverse reactions in chemotherapy with fluorouracil, improve quality of life, and ensure the completion of a full course of chemotherapy. Key words: Disposable infusion pump; Gynecologic tumors; Efficacy; Toxicity and adverse reaction
