Abstract

Objective To explore the impacts of nursing intervention on anxiety and changes of stress in patients undergoing thyroid surgery. Methods The intervention group received a variety of effective nursing intervention and the control group received general nursing care. SAS scores and changes in vital signs were compared between two groups before and after patient care by self-rating anxiety scale ( SAS ).Results SAS score was significantly declined in the intervention group but did not change markedly in the control group. SAS score decreased more obviously in the intervention group as compared with the control group. Mean arterial pressure and heart rate did not differ significantly in both groups but mardedly declined in the intervention group after intervention while did not change obviously in the control group. Conclusions Nursing intervention for patients with thyroid surgery can effectively relieve patient anxiety and stress status. Key words: Thyroid surgery; Nursing intervention; Anxiety; Stress
