Abstract
Objective To study the effect of aripiprazole on hyperprolactinemia induced by psychotic drugs. Methods From March, 2015 to August, 2017, 82 patients with hyperprolactinemia induced by antipsychotics were randomly divided into a control group (n = 41) and an observation group (n = 41). The control group were routinely treated; in addition, the observation group were treated with aripiprazole. The serum prolactin level was monitored for 8 weeks. Results During the baseline period, there was no statistical difference in the total score of PANSS scale between the two groups (P>0.05); 56 d after the treatment, the total score was lower in the control group than in the observation group [ (46.85±10.02) vs. (54.87±10.84) ], with a statistical difference (P 0.05). During the baseline period, there was no statistical difference in the prolactin level between the two groups (P>0.05); 28 and 56 d after the treatment, the prolactin levels were higher in the control group than in the observation group [ (26.87±5.34) μg/L vs. (16.11±5.74) μg/L and (27.71±3.87) μg/L vs. (13.21±3.74) μg/L], with statistical differences (P 0.05). Conclusion Aripiprazole is effective for hyperprolactinemia induced by antipsychotics. Key words: Aripiprazole; Antipsychotics; Hyperprolactinemia; EPS
