Abstract
Objective To explore clinical features and pathogenesis of diabetes-associated ophthalmoplegia.Methods Sixty-five cases which were admitted ophthalmoplegia with type 2 diabetes from June 2008 to June 2013 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Results Among 65 cases,monocular involvement with ptosis of the upper eyelid occurred in 4 cases,61 suffered from diplopia without pupillary abnormality,42 were healed.The treatment time was from 55 to 97 days; 17 cases were better and 6 cases had no change.Conclusions Diabetes-associated ophthalmoplegia is mostly in acute condition.Oculomotor nerve damage is the most common cause of the disease.It is well effective to active treat the primary affection of diabetes and the complication of the nerve.
