Abstract
Objective To study the effect of using laryngeal mask airway to inhale oxygen after tracheotomy.Methods 64 patients with tracheotomy were randomly divided into two groups.The observation group (n=32) were given laryngeal mask airway to inhale oxygen, while the control group (n=32) followed the conventional way of oxygen inhalation (using the hose of disposable scalp needle without pinhead).cO2 and SpO2 in their continuous end expiration were monitored.Results The patients with tracbeotomy in the observation group had significant lower sputum density, lower risk of blockage of oxygen rubber hose, lower pulse oxygen saturation and less complication in operation area than those in the control group.5 minutes after giving oxygen, the blood oxygen saturation was (95.0±2.56) % in the observation group, and (93.0±2.35) % in the control group.The difference had a statistical meaning (P<0.05) between the two groups.conclusions For patients with tracbeotomy, the use of laryngeal mask airway to inhale oxygen could improve the oxygen saturation of blood, relieve hypoxemia and decrease the complications in operation area quickly and effectively.
