Abstract

Objective To study the efficacy of one-stage surgery in acute intestinal obstruction resulted from left colonic cancer. Methods 60 patients of left colonic cancer with intestinal obstruction were randomly divided into experimental group and control group (30 cases for each group). The experimental group accepted one-stage surgery while the control group accepted Hartmann surgery. Results The experimental group had shorter operation time of (98.8± 9.6) rains and stay length of (15.6± 4.5) days than (148.5± 19.8) mins and (22.5 ± 6.8) days of control group respectively (P〈0.05). The experimental group had lower complication rate of 13.3% and higher 2-year survival rate of 70.0% than those of control group as 26.7% and 46.7% (P〈0.05). Conclusion The one-stage surgery can relieve the obstruction and has less complication and higher survival rate, which is effective for intestinal obstruction induced by left colonic cancer. Key words: Left colonic cancer;  Intestinal obstruction;  One-stage surgery
