Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical application of ultrasound-guided minimally invasive Mammotome biopsy system in diagnosis and treatment of non-palpable breast lesions. Methods The operation and biopsy for 402 non-palpable breast lesions of 128 patients were performed by ultrasound-guided Mammotome biopsy system. Results The 402 non-palpable breast lesions were resected safely and completely by Mammotome biopsy system and all operations were visualized by ultrasonography. The average numbers of excision times were 12 times (range, 5-26 times) by Mammotome (8G) system and 10 times (5-23times) by Mammotome (11 G) system respectively. The average duration of operation was 15 minutes(5-35 minutes).Skin ecchymosis was found in 3 patients after operation. 117 patients were followed by ultrasound examination for 6 months, of them, 6 cases had residual lesions. Conclusions The ultrasound-guided Mammotome system is an effective method for the diagnosis and treatment of non-palpable solid lesions and may provide an option for the definitive treatment of suspicious breast lesions. Key words: Ultrasound-guided minimally invasive Mammotome biopsy system; Non-palpable breast lesion
