Sonic Hedgehog(Shh)信号通路在脊椎动物眼球发育过程中发挥重要的调控作用.包括决定视泡发育模式,促进神经元、神经胶质细胞及视网膜色素上皮细胞分化,调节细胞增生和存活,决定视网膜分层结构,引导视茎和轴突发育等.Shh可能参与角膜上皮细胞的增生和修复过程,并可能参与近视及眼部新生血管的调控。
