Abstract

Objective: The aim oft his study was to determine statistically significant difference in volume and platelet count per 1 dose of platelet concentrates produced by buffy-coat method and plateletpheresis. Methods: All data about quality control of platelet concentrates from 2017. produced by buffy coat method and plateletpheresis method were taken from ZTM, KBC Split. There were compared monthly average of volume per 1 dose of platelet concentrate and number of platelets per 1 dose of platelet concentrate. Statistic method t-test for two independent samples was used. Results: The results showed statistic significant difference in volume per 1 dose of platelet concentrate and number of platelets per 1 dose of platelet concentrate. The average volume per 1 dose of buffy coat produced platelet concentrate was 53,37 ml, while 56,37 ml was per 1 dose of plateletpheresis produced platelet concentrate (p=0.0086). The number of platelets per 1 dose of platelet concentrate produced by buffy coat was 6,54 x1010/L, while 5,02 x1010/L was per 1 dose of plateletpheresis produced platelet concentrate (p<0,0001). Conclusions: This research proved some differences in volume and number of platelets per 1 dose of platelet concentrates produced by buffy coat and plateletpheresis at ZTM, KBC Split.
