Currently, seven pharmaceutical products are approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for smoking cessation. Five of these are nicotine replacement products. The remaining two are the non-nicotine containing medications varenicline and bupropion. This paper provides a summary of these smoking cessation pharmaceuticals for dental health professionals.
