Abstract
Seismic processing should be divided in three hierarchical steps, the last step being seismic reservoir characterization. The characterization step can be based on a linear or a nonlinear approach. Particularly in the nonlinear approach, the use of prior information is required on the geological model as well as the petrophysical parameters. In this paper the concept of seismic reservoir characterization is introduced and the different characterization processes are discussed.
