Abstract

Free space optical communication (FSO) - is one of the best technology that have number of advantages such as high data rate, rapid ability to increase, free license spectrum and simple deployment. Atmosphere is the medium in FSO communication, thus efficiency of the communication system deteriorates due to atmospheric interferences. In this paper, various atmospheric conditions like Clear Air, Haze, Moderate Fog and Heavy Fog have been considered to analyze their effect on the performance of an FSO system. Quality of received signal has been studied by analyzing various parameters like transmission range, power and beam divergence of FSO - SISO and WDM - FSO systems.
