Abstract
More agile and efficient spectrum management is one of the key requirements for wireless communication industry. Based on the analysis of the bottleneck of the dynamic spectrum management (DSM), this paper probes into the possibility of transforming the DSM to the smart spectrum management (SSM). The spectrum opportunity (SOP) related information in the spectrum sharing is layered into spectrum data, spectrum information, and spectrum knowledge based on the processing and abstractive level. And the SSM is defined with the spectrum knowledge as the enabler and the coupled SOP exploration and exploitation as the key feature, following which diverse SOP availability environment can be accommodated and online SOP management optimization can be achieved. Extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can effectively promote SOP utilization especially in the poor signal to noise environment.
