Abstract
Climate change (CC) is an inevitable phenomenon in the world owning to the use of fossil fuels for energy production. It has numerous consequences related to it ranging from effects on crops by affecting yield by creating water shortage and disturbing soil health, decreasing livestock productivity, rising sea level, biodiversity loss and glaciers melting. Different methods are employed to mitigate its effects including carbon sequestration (CS) in its different sinks which are most effective and reliable method. It can be applied by managing agriculture fields with crop rotations, green manuring and nutrient management, organic farming, cover cropping, fertilizer, and irrigation management, desert soilization, cover cropping, erosion control, maintaining soil biota, agroforestry, reforestation, afforestation, and REDD+ to increase soil organic matter (SOM) in soils which helps to carbon (C) in 88 soils. Non-agricultural approaches are also used to enhance CS like rainwater harvesting, water desalinization, geological storage of C, C trading, urban planning, C emissions management and using alternative fuel technologies.
