Participatory/Action Research/ CBPR

Community‐based, participatory, and action research methods seek to contribute to scholarly discourse and social action. Often called community‐based participatory research (CBPR) or participatory action research (PAR), these methods use research and activist practices to produce knowledge and at the same time engage broad community stakeholders in order to produce meaningful social change. CBPR and PAR are driven by three key ideas: participation, action, and community. These methods involve creating partnerships, building coalitions, developing relationships, planning and replanning, and coordinating action.
