Abstract

Dermoscopy assumes paramount significance in the assessment of disorders of hyperpigmentation in dark-skinned patients as they may clinically look quite similar among each other due to the natural brownish background. 1 Additionally, many hyperpigmented dermatoses involve the face with consequent aesthetic issues in bioptic sampling, thereby making dermoscopic assessment even more relevant in the work-up of such conditions in order to reduce the number of biopsies or guiding the sampling toward the most relevant lesional area. 1
