Abstract

Nanofiltration (NF) membrane technique is now of interest for industries and many researchers. This is a consequence of the improved selectivity of monovalent, divalent, and multivalent ions. In addition, this technique functions at moderately lower pressures, and the cost of maintenance is relatively low. The preparation of advanced NF membranes via the integration of diverse nanofillers in the polymer matrix has turned out to be optimistic for ameliorating membrane flux and salt rejection. This chapter reports on the advanced NF membranes for the treatment of wastewater and the novel methods employed in fabricating NF membranes. Characterization methods used in studying the properties and performances of NF and nanocomposite membranes for the purification of wastewater were discussed.
