Abstract
With the current increase in human underwater activities, the demand for underwater communication systems is also increasing. The underwater communication system mainly uses acoustic wave or electromagnetic wave as the means to transmit signals. These two waves are physically and electrically different. Therefore, the system used is different in terms of design architecture, wave propagation and equipment used for transmission and reception. This is caused by the different advantages of the two systems themselves and their own limitations. In this paper, the underwater communication based on acoustic wave and electromagnetic wave is reviewed in depth, and the two systems are compared, then the impact on the environment when using these two waves for underwater communication is further discussed.
