Information and Communication Technology as a Tool for the Empowerment of Women

Information and communication technology (ICT) opens up various opportunities for social, economic, technological growth. ICT bridges the gaps between rural-urban areas, Socio-economic differences. And further can helps in women empowerment as it is needed to build up women capacities by which they can take part in numerous activities from household work to social activities. By their empowerment, women get control over knowledge, information, human relations, and financial resources and also enhance their self confidence and morale. Though there are barriers where women in rural areas cannot access and use the ICT for solving this problem, government and NGO are together taking initiatives and on individual basis, women needs to take part in ICT programs to enhance their capabilities
