Analysis and Suggestions on Peak Shaving of Hunan AC-DC Hybrid Power Grid with Large-scale New Energy

Abstract

In recent years, the installation of new energy in Hunan province has been developing rapidly and impact on peak shaving of its randomness and fluctuation have also been increasing. Meanwhile, after the operation of Qi Shao HVDC project, due to the demand for power generation at the valley load of flood season is significant, the problem concerning consumption of new energy is further emphasized. This paper analyses the load characteristics and the output characteristics of wind power supply in Hunan Province, analyses the demand and capacity of peak shaving using the actual operation data of Hunan, and discusses the influence of new energy output and foreign power on the peak regulation of Hunan power grid. Based on the research results, in view of the difficulty and crux of the peak shaving in Hunan, this paper proposes some suggestions to improve the peak shaving ability of Hunan province.
