Behavior of the References Cited by the Colombian Engineering Scientific Journals

The continuous work of scientific journals leads to evaluate different aspects that allow establishing a quality seal and, therefore, recognition of researchers, and thus drawing attention of international researchers to publish in these journals. One of the factors most taken into account by the authors is the quotation level of a given journal, which is a point of wide discussion especially in the Latin American region or even in the Spanish-speaking one, as the publishers argue that the works in the region publications are important mostly for the region itself. Therefore, an analysis was made in order to evaluate the behavior of the references cited in the articles published in the Colombian engineering journals to determine if they “use” or not the works of their peers in the region.
