Abstract

According to the International Maritime Organization International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, the port facility needs to identify an individual as the Port Facility Security Officer. The Port Facility Security Officer will also be the liaison with the ship and ship company security officers. A security professional should be selected for the position of Facility Security Officer. The port facility security force must take immediate action to thwart a threat. The port facility must provide a written plan that shall be implemented for the protection of personnel, US Naval vessels, and the material and equipment to be installed at the contractor’s facility. Security cameras can be used on the perimeter of the marina and can see beyond the fence line, thus providing a deterrent and early warning of unauthorized access. Security signage provides security information and warning to those entering the marina property.
