Abstract

A horizontal/vertical dual-polarized omnidirectional antenna is presented in this paper for 5.4 GHz WLAN. The vertical polarization (VP) antenna is a modified low profile monopole antenna. The radiation of the horizontal polarization (HP) antenna is realized by forming a current loop in the form of a unipolar hook antenna array in the horizontal plane. The whole antenna achieves a bandwidth of 17% of reflection coefficient below -10 db. The radiation patterns shows the omnidirectional dual-polarization characteristics of the whole antenna. The presented antenna is simulated, fabricated and measured. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones.
