Abstract

Techniques involved in proteomic approach have revolutionized global crop improvement programs. Different branches of proteomics have been used to have complete knowledge of proteome of a particular plant. Quantitative proteomics have a key role in identifying the differentially expressed proteins in two contrasting samples. Thus, quantitative proteomics can be used to study protein involved in defense and metabolic pathways. Under stress conditions, there is an alteration in proteins involved in different pathways, so proteomics is needed to study the alteration in the pathways. In this chapter we discuss different quantitative proteomics techniques used in plant proteomics and the role of proteomics in studying different pathways.
