Abstract

Current of three phase pulse width modulated rectifier operation can be controlled with PID controller. The PWM rectifier output is decided by controlling the line current of output side dc current as well as supply side voltage. In this paper detailed study of the Current control loop technique based on PID controller for getting rated current across output side and reduced THD at input side AC voltage of the rectifier is given. THD can be controlled using IGBT based PWM rectifier. Simulation model using Matlab and its results analysis with operation at steady and transient state condition is given in the paper. Simulation results presents that current control loop with PID controller and PWM technique execution consist various benefits than the conventional rectifier technique e.g. approx unity power factor along with better dynamic response.
