Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the level of lexical density and Lexical Variation in the Think Globally Act Locally textbook .Source of the data in this study were twenty Reading passage contained in Think Globally Act Locally Textbook Junior High school. The data of this study were word and sentences of lexical items and grammatical words to analyze the lexical density and Lexical Variation. The researcher using formula and D-Tools app to measure lexical variation. The analysis were divided into five steps. First, Reading each text contained in the textbook. then Identify which one include in lexical items and which one are grammatical function. After that lexical and gramatical word will be clasify into the table and determine part of speech each type of words. The next step is to determine lexical variation using D-Tools by pasting the text into the text box and begin to analyze D value. The last step is draw the result and conclude based on guidance level of LD and LV. The research shows the the textbook has Quite Good proportion of LD and the LV dominant in Low repetition level and has result of Lexical density are 5 High denses, 11 Quite desnses and 4 low denses, then 7 High, 4 Average and 9 Low level of Lexical variation. The dominant level of lexical density is quite difficult and lexical variation is low variation, It means that the textbooks quite easy to understand by junior high school students and requires emphasis on some text feedback. Keywords: Lexical Density, Lexical Variation, Lexical Diversity.
