Abstract

The present study is being carried out for turbulent flow past a single and three element NACA-4412 airfoils. Flow analysis is done successfully for two different airfoils - a single element cambered airfoil NACA-4412 and a three-element configuration of the same NACA-4412 using small slat at leading edge and flaps with a given orientation with respect to the original airfoil. Flow simulations with computational study are employed to study the flow over the airfoil and various aerodynamic properties of NACA-4412 and MDA 30P-30N multielement airfoils. From the present study it is found that MDA 30P-30N multielement airfoil gives better aerodynamic efficiency at different flap and slat positions and hence it can be used as a high lifting device in the wing.
