Abstract

To utilize electrical power in continuous manner with better quality UPS systems are mostly used. Fundamental device of the UPS system is inverter whose performance should be superior but major problem associated with inverter is power loss due to harmonic effect and switching phenomena. So that to improve performance harmonic effect must be reduced, higher order harmonics can be reduced with low size filter while reduction of lower order harmonics require large size filter whose design is not feasible. There by various PWM techniques have been introduce in this paper to reduce harmonics are MPWM technique, SPWM technique, Trapezoidal PWM, Third harmonic PWM, 60 degree PWM etc. These techniques not only reduce harmonics on load side of inverter but also control output voltages and frequency. Out of which we pick two methods PWM and SPWM for performance analysis comparison with help of mat lab model and simulation result.
