Abstract
Implementation of lean production in construction is the increasingly topical issue in many countries. However, the current status and extent of lean construction implementation have not been well studied. We are entering a time where “lean” will be the main method of delivering construction projects. The applying of a new “lean” philosophy in construction sector provides the condition for more competitive, construction efficient and sustainable construction. The goal of paper is to describe the possibilities of applying this lean production and its principles in the Slovak construction company which focuses on modular modern methods of construction. The selection of the analyzed construction company was targeted because the off-site construction (in production halls) represents a huge opportunity for lean philosophy implementation in construction in terms of Industry 4.0 principles. Based on a structured interview, implementation of the lean production tools, its benefits and barriers have been proposed.
