Impact of digital divide on e-government use intention: Moderating role of socio-demographic factors

The purpose of the study is to analyse the impact of digital divide on e-government use intention of citizens in Indian context. Three aspects of digital divide have been considered namely, access divide, skills divide and innovativeness divide. The study also analyses the moderating effects of socio-demographic factors (gender, age, education, income, and residential location) in the relationships between the three aspects of digital divide and e-government use intention. The findings indicate that all the three aspects of digital divide namely access divide, skill divide and innovativeness divide have significant impact on e-government use intention. The access divide has the strongest impact on e-government use intention which is followed by skills divide and innovativeness divide. Further, accept income, all other socio-demographic factors viz. gender, age, education and residential location have been found to moderate the impact of digital divide on e-government use intention.
