Abstract
In the “Gurukul” era, the education system was closely linked to nature and real life. Later it evolved as modern education system after introduction by the British government. However, it is very much modified and updated now. The modern education system having classroom teaching learning as a major component has become one of the most popular education systems of the world. After the independence of India, several advancements were adopted to make it more effective. Such advancements have taken place all around the world. In the meantime, several technologies have also evolved and matured, which have also proved useful for the education system. Currently, with growing technology in the field of the cloud, sensors, and new algorithm additions in rapid data analysis, the world is moving into the era of the smart world. The current education system is also adopting tech-savvy methods for teaching from kinder garden to higher education institutions. The learner can take advantage of new technological developments for effective, efficient and comfortable learning with flexibility. The smart education term is being used for teaching with the use of digital resources on wireless medium with minimal expense and effort. Digital resources are available for utilization as required. This chapter discusses the meaning of smart education with a proposed abstract framework for a smart education concept. Again, there is a need to be reconnected with nature. The usage of eco-friendly energy sources and other techniques in educational institutions and for online learning makes it a green smart education system.
