Abstract

Diabetic foot disease is a significantly under‐recognized leading cause of global amputation, hospitalization, disability and mortality burdens.1-4 Fortunately, these large burdens appear to be substantially reducible with evidence‐based diabetic foot services.1, 3-5 In this issue of ANZ Journal of Surgery, Gurney et al.6 report large variations in diabetes‐related amputation rates in New Zealand.
