During the last two decades scholars and researchers have made a tremendous effort to establish the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment in various work settings. This study examines the relationship between job satisfaction, and various dimensions of organizational commitment of executives in the State sector of Sri Lanka. The results indicate that the job satisfaction of executives in the state sector reported an average level while the organizational commitment is in a satisfactory state. There is a positive significant relationship between job satisfaction and various dimensions of organizational commitment. But job satisfaction significantly correlated only with normative commitment.
