Abstract

The length-weight relationships (LWR) of two species of carangids viz., Decapterus russelli and Megalaspis cordyla were worked out for male and female separately. No significant difference was observed in growth between sexes for both the species. Therefore, common equations were derived for both the sexes as W = 0.005975 L3.1680 (R2 = 0.899) and W = 0.008577 L3.0162 (R2 = 0.953) for D. russelli and M. cordyla respectively. The growth pattern was found to be positive allometric in D. russelli and isometric in M. cordyla.
