Abstract

The friction and wear characteristics of cast iron with different graphite morphology(dry sliding against GCr15 steel) were investigated on MMS-1G high speed friction and wearing machine under the conditions of velocity(10~90 m/s) and contact load(0.33~1.67 MPa).The wear mechanisms and tribo-metallographic phases were studied using scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the graphite morphology has an obvious effect on friction and wear characteristics of the cast iron. The friction coefficient declines and wear rate increases with the increase of sliding velocity.
