Canopy interception characteristics of bamboo forests in northern semitropics

Abstract

The canopy interception effects of northern subtropical bamboo forests were observed and studied in the Yangtze River delta forest located ecosystem station.Our result showed that the annual canopy interception amount was 171.7 mm,average canopy interception rate was 29.4%,which had better eco-hydrological effect.The canopy interception effects of bamboo forest were different markedly under the different rainfall level,rainfall intensities level,it had better interception effect under small rainfall level and small rainfall intensities.The canopy interception(rate) of bamboo forest was correlated with different degree of rainfall,rainfall intensities,rainfall duration,leaf area index,and aridity of branch leaves before rain.Rainfall duration played the first role on the canopy interception and rainfall intensities played the first role on the canopy interception rate.Based on Wang yan-hui's canopy interception model,we introduced the change dynamic of leaf area index to improve his model and we found the improved model had better applicability.
