Abstract
To investigate detonation properties of a heavily aluminized explosive, we calibrated a reaction-rate for an aluminized explosive from two-dimensional steady-state experiments by applying the detonation shock dynamics. To verify short-term behavior of this rate equation, we numerically modeled a detonation-pressure measurement test. Though the calculated peak pressure and duration were slightly higher and longer, respectively, the profile itself was in good agreement with the experimental observation. Using the rate equation, we were able to predict most detonation properties of the aluminized explosive.
