Abstract

A persistent feature of bronchial asthma (BA) is a chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract, which is based on contact with cause-significant allergens. The structure of sensitization to aeroallergens and their accurate identification is a prerequisite for treatment. To study the structure of sensitization to aeroallergens in children and adolescents with atopic BA from the standpoint of planning preventive and therapeutic measures. 98 patients with atopic BA are appreciated on availability of sensitization to the main aeroallergens in the course of performing skin testing according to classical schemes, taking into account the size of the blister reaction and the magnitude of the hyperemia. Allergological examination was performed using standard allergens. Sensitization to household allergens was detected in 70/98 (71%) patients, to epidermal allergens-in 37/98 (38%), to pollen allergens - in 71/98 (72%). The proportion of patients who had sensitization to pollen allergens significantly exceeded the proportion of patients who had sensitization to epidermal allergens (criterion Z=23.8 with p=0.01). The proportion of patients who had sensitization to household allergens was significantly higher than the proportion of patients who had sensitization to epidermal allergens (criterion Z=22.4 with p=0.01). A combination of household, epidermal and pollen sensitization was detected in 23/98 (23%) children, a combination of two sensitization options - in 35/98 (36%), sensitization to one of the types of allergens-in 40/98 (41%). Sensitization to household and pollen allergens prevails in children with BA, which should be taken into account when managing these patients.
