Tribal warfare: Commensal Neisseria kill pathogen Neisseria gonorrhoeae using its DNA – GENESIS OF THE STUDY The Gram negative Neisseria genus contains many species that naturally colonize a wide range of animals, including man. Human-dwelling Neisseria are genetically related and their chromosomes have large regions of sequence homology and synteny. Only two species in this genus are pathogenic.
