Abstract

This approach was developed primarily for fast patrol boats, but is applicable to other vehicles as well. Three problems were identified: (i) prediction of motion and loads imposed upon the hull, with emphasis on severe sea conditions; (ii) assessment of ship structural scantlings according to Navy requirements on ship system performance in a seaway; and (iii) preparation of material to judge stresses in the ship structure, exploiting the load-carrying capabilities thereof. Order from BSRA as No. 49,412.
