Abstract
During a comparative clinical investigation of the antidepressant efficacy of moclobemide compared to amitriptyline, it was established that there is no significant difference between the antidepressant effect of the two medicaments when non-melancholic and non-psychotic Major Depressions (DSM III R) are concerned. In terms of the safety of their use, it was established that moclobemide is much more tolerable compared to amitriptyline. Based on investigations, it can be concluded that moclobemide is the means of choice in treating a broad spectrum of non-psychotic depression disorders, particularly those appearing in individuals with serious physical illnesses.
