Abstract

There has been an increasing connectivity to the internet and with this increased connectivity, there is also a significant increase in security related incidents. The growing features of the internet also calls for implementing robust security measures to secure private information and the whole network. With industries inspiring Bring Your Own Device strategy, the threat spectrum has expanded significantly. In such a case, it is imperative to monitor and secure the data in transit as well as in the device itself. A lot of small home/office networks don't spend the effort in securely configuring their assets, which opens the gate for a varied series of network attacks and compromises. Many network solutions have their own defined security loopholes. Malicious activities can use a malware to perform the attacks and these attacks can spoof the information over the network and cause severe damage. Such attacks, not only has implications for productivity, but also has an avalanche effect on the future business, finance and general perception of the brand. This paper discusses the different attacks in the network and the ways to monitor and prevent an attack.
