Abstract
The authors proposed a modern traffic control system on railroad crossings, which includes traditional railway automation equipment with devices for continuous monitoring of railway infrastructure and rolling stock. The railroad crossing equipment with new devices allows significantly increasing the information content of the traffic participant from both the road and railway transport. It becomes possible to use flexible traffic control algorithms, while safety is significantly increased. Traffic participants have the opportunity to obtain a forecast of travel time of train through railway crossing, and the availability of such information can reduce the number of failures and eliminate the influence of the human factor. The use of modern information technologies makes it possible to improve the process of data exchange between moving units and the infrastructure of a railroad crossing, as well as develop rational traffic control algorithms taking into account the current transport situation.
