Abstract
Based on nonlinear FEM method and Duncan E-B model, the stress and deformation analysis of Lang He Clay Core Rock Fill Dam is made in this paper. The stages before and after the impounding of the dam are simulated, and then the displacement and stress are presented. The result shows that upstream slope of the dam faces the risk of sliding and there may be fractures between the core and upstream rocks before and after the impoundment. The rigid body limit equilibrium method is then used to verify the results, and good accordance is got for the main law.Seepage of the dam is also computed and relative evaluation is given. The causes of cracks are finally determined to be the uneven settlements via the analysis. The results are valuable for the design and execution of the strengthening of the dam.
