Abstract

Two new megastigmane glucosides, called excoecariosides A and B were isolated from the leaves of a medicinal Vietnamese plant, Excoecaria cochinchinensis Lour. var. cochinchinensis (Euphorbiaceae) together with seven known compounds. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses and chemical reactions including the modified Mosher's method. © 2005 Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. Author Keywords: Euphorbiaceae; Excoecaria cochinchinensis; Excoecarioside; Megastigmane glucoside Index Keywords: 4 hydroxybenzoic acid; astragalin; excoecarioside A; excoecarioside B; gallic acid; glucoside; kaempferol derivative; shikimic acid; unclassified drug; article; chemical reaction kinetics; drug isolation; drug structure; Euphorbia; Excoecaria cochinchinensis; medicinal plant; plant leaf; Chromatography, High Pressure Liquid; Chromatography, Thin Layer; Cyclohexanones; Euphorbiaceae; Glucosides; Hydrolysis; Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy; Norisoprenoids; Plant Extracts; Plant Leaves; Solvents; Spectrometry, Mass, Fast Atom Bombardment; Spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared;
