Abstract
In order to figure out the impact of ramp control on the traffic capacity on freeway, a functional model of the relationship between the traffic flow on freeway and that on ramp is developed based on gap-acceptance theory with consideration of the impact of the acceleration lane. Furthermore, numerical examples are presented in detail under several service levels, which provides foundation for ramp-control and freeway management.
