Abstract
With the increasingly improved operation and management levels of expressway administration departments and increase in demand for safety, smoothness and comfort of expressways, the expressway supervisory system should be also upgraded from time to time. This paper introduces the research and development cases of the area supervisory central system on expressways by means of GIS technique. This system while containing the functions of all conventional supervisory systems is equipped with the dedicated electronic map for expressway supervision, and based on which demonstrates the operation conditions of expressway via GIS rendering technique so as to improve the efficiency of supervision and management for expressways.
