Social Sciences and Development of Chinese Social History Studies

Modern Chinese social history studies have been deeply influenced by social sciences since the 20~(th) century. Chinese social history studies developed along with the conceptualization ofNew History,introduction of Western social sciences and great debate of Chinese social history in the first half of the 20~(th) century.History study in China was deeply imprinted by history of social form development great debate of social history and politicized from 1950s to 1970s because Marxist theory of history became the only theory of history and historians experienced the great debate of social history became leading scholars in the field of history.During that period of time,although studies of social form history and history of peasant war developed greatly,they were basically but explanation of theoretical patterns and formulated rules.Rich social life was hardly touched except mode of production and few methods of social sciences were available for social history that had been at a standstill.Study of social history has developed greatly ever since the restoration and construction of many disciplines of social sciences thanks to the reform and open policy in the late 1970s in China.Chinese social history study has so closely been going up and down with those of social sciences that social history study should be based on incorporating theories and methods from social sciences,changing ideas,advancing with the times,and insisting upon dialogue and cooperation with social sciences.
