Abstract
Objective:To study the changes and the clinical significance of Red Blood Cell Distribution Width (RDW) in a lot of kinds of liver diseases. Methods:162 cases of liver diseases were selected and their RDW SD and RDW CV were measured by a Auto Blood Analyzer (K 1000). Results:The RDW SD and RDW CV values in chronic active hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) were higher than that of the control subjects( P 0.05). The HCC showed the highest value in RDW SD and RDW CV, and then the cirrhosis and chronic active hepatitis. The advanced stage of HCC also showed a higher value of RDW SD and RDW CV as compared to that of other stages( P 0.05). Conclusion:The changes of RDW may reflect the situations of liver diseases. The RDW SD and RDW CV may act as a standard to judge the injure degree of liver function and to predict the HCC prognosis.
