Abstract
Narrative medicine, also known as narrative-based medicine, designates medicine practiced with narrative competence. The rationale of narrative medicine is elucidated in four aspects: narrative structure of medical knowledge, basic genre of medical narrative, narrative interpretation of illness meaning, and narrative perspective on medical ethics.Narrative medicine aims to improve doctor-patient relationship by listening to patient voice and provide a practical basis for biomedical ethics by intervening in patient care and rehabilitation.
